Every morning we feed hay to each group of cows. Some are fed hay in round bale feeders and others are fed like this. For this group, we roll the bale out behind the tractor with a bale unroller attachment. Then we walk through them to check on the health of the cows and calves. Day 23 - A quiet day with a set of triplet lambs and no new calves. It has given us a chance to catch up on processing calves, making tags and turning calves out. We check all the calves every day to make sure they are healthy. In the afternoon, I took some time to catch up on my calving records.

We woke up to another set of triplet lambs yesterday! Two ewes have lambed so far and they have both had triplets! Wow!

The first time mom and their calves are enjoying the straw. Their pastures are starting to dry fairly well, so it should only be another week or so when we need to use straw. Once it dries out, we won’t put straw out to encourage them to spread out more.

Day 22 - 3 calves today. We processed the calves from yesterday and today. We had a calf that had been quite sick the past couple days with pneumonia and he finally was up and nursing on his mom again today! So satisfying to see him doing better after 5 bags of electrolytes and some antibiotics.
