It was a beautiful day when we pushed the cows up to their fall pasture. We climbed 400 feet in elevation from our home ranch to their fall pasture at 4,000 foot elevation. I always love to listen back to the chatter of the boys in these videos. Here one of them is asking where to go to block the cows further along the trial.

Reading this quote couldn’t have come at a better time. Lately, we have been discussing how we want to be more intentional about our goals, personally and on the ranch. Studies show that we are more likely to see actionable results if we write out of goals and ambitions. If you then revisit these each week, individuals or as a family, you can then make the necessary steps to achieving them. Often we make goals at the beginning of the year to then have them sit on the sidelines as life gets busy. So I challenge you to write out your goals for the year, 3 years and 10 years. Then set aside some time at the beginning of each week to review your goals and to review the wins from the previous week. Maybe this time will be with your spouse. And maybe it will include your children. Teaching the next generation how to be accountable and how to work towards achieving goals can never be started too early.

Weekly Reflection - The past week was filled with chores, homeschooling and Halloween! The cows are doing well on their fall pasture and the calves are happily adapting to their pasture without their mothers. The boys started working their show steers. Later in the week, we took more animals to the abattoir and picked up more beef. Then we prepped for Halloween and the boys had a great evening of trick or treating. On the weekend, we sold some bred heifers, loaded them for their new home and we ended the weekend with a family hay delivery day! The snow is holding off but by the sounds of the forecast, this was our last week of the beautiful fall weather.

Our little helper calling the calves! Watching him learn and copy everything his brothers do is so special. He is always trying to keep up to them and they are so good with him. They pack him when he needs to be packed, they play with him when he wants to play and they absolutely love cuddling him!
